  • Neighbor-to-Neighbor with Help of Ojai

Our OPC Missions team is arranging volunteer support for the HELP of Ojai Neighbor-to-Neighbor project to assist at-risk neighbors that are isolating or sheltering in place.  Many of these neighbors feel afraid, vulnerable, and lonely. We’re asking any, who have an elderly neighbor or friend, that you call them directly and ask if they are okay and if they need anything. If you don’t have someone to call, let HELP of Ojai know and you will be given someone to call and make a connection with. HELP of Ojai will work with you if the person needs anything. For example, today a volunteer is picking up and delivering prescriptions for several seniors. Yesterday several people signed up for home-delivered meals. The needs are out there, but many seniors don’t want to ask or don’t know you are willing to help. This program allows us to keep social distancing in mind by dropping items off at doorsteps, as HELP of Ojai can assist in arranging a drop off.

If you would like to make a difference, please send your name and phone number via email to opcmissions@outlook.com.  We will send our list of OPC volunteers to HELP of Ojai, who will then match each volunteer to at-risk senior for calls a few times a week.  It is important to talk with the beneficiary when possible to assess their situation.  We should assume that they are afraid, feel vulnerable and may have other needs, or health issues, that require attention.   If any additional needs or concerns are identified, please contact Help of Ojai at 805-646-5122.

  • Help of Ojai FOod Pantry

HELP of Ojai needs non-perishable food items for their food box program. They are already experiencing an increase need of food for people in the Ojai Valley. On a monthly average, HELP of Ojai distributes 90 food boxes to households in the Ojai Valley. In the past week they have already given out 30 food boxes. HELP of Ojai expects an increase due to the people who are out of work, children that are out of school, and seniors who cannot go to the store. You can donate by:
